FinMin Pierrakakis presents plan to attract wealthy foreign nationals

FInance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis will address prospective investors who are considering moving their tax domicile to Greece at events to be held in foreign cities in the fall. In the direction of attracting non-doms is also a provision that will be included in the draft law for the new customs code, which will soon be put up for consultation.
According to Pierrakakis, the changes will be as follows:
- Allowing family members to join the alternative tax regime at any time within the 15-year stay of the original investor in Greece, at a cost of 20,000 euros per additional member.
- Full exemption from gift and inheritance tax for property abroad that the investor transfers to third parties.
Pierrakakis stressed that heirs will not be taxed on this property in Greece. He also added that of the 214 applications submitted in total, 213 were approved in the first five years of implementation (2020-2025). This resulted in a significant inflow of foreign capital, totalling 277 million euros, for investments that have either been completed or are in progress.
