Maritime Affairs Ministry on alert: 200 Greek-owned vessels in Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy is on heightened alert, fearing a further escalation of tensions in the Red Sea and the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Ministry of Maritime Affairs sources speaking to ANA-MPA stressed that approximately 200 vessels of Greek interest are currently operating in the wider region of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, as Greece maintains a strong presence in the maritime trade routes of the area.

Despite the heightened concern, shipping industry officials point out that the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz remains largely unaffected, as existing contracts bind companies to comply with agreed terms of carriage.
