Marinakis: The international geopolitical situation remains worrying in the wider Middle East region

"The international geopolitical situation continues to remain complex and worrying, especially in the wider Middle East region," government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said on Monday, during a press briefing.

The next topic of the briefing concerned the fire risk, which was particularly high on Sunday in Attica, Evia, Crete, Samos, Ikaria, Lesvos and Crete. "A total of 45 farmland-forest fires broke out, of which 34 were dealt with immediately. The most serious fire, where firefighters are still operating, is on the island of Chios," he noted.

The government spokesperson also referred to the new wing of the Emergency Department at the Attica General Hospital, which was inaugurated by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis.

He then said that "on Thursday, June 26, 2025, the grades of the candidates in the university entrance examinations will be announced."

Concluding his introductory statement, Marinakis said that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will travel to The Hague on Tuesday afternoon to participate in the NATO Summit. On Wednesday afternoon, Mitsotakis will be in Brussels, where he will participate in the GAVI Summit, the European People's Party Summit and the European Council on Thursday.
