"The attack on the Greek Orthodox Church of Prophet Elias in Damascus fills us with abhorrence, as well as with our deepest sorrow for the victims of this terrorist act. It also tragically highlights, once again, the need to protect the Christian populations of the Middle East," Defence Minister Nikos Dendias stated in a post on X on Monday.
"Our thoughts are with His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and his flock," he added.
