Minister of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy Vassilis Kikilias was at the operations room of the Port Authority with the leadership of the authority on Sunday, monitoring developments in the Middle East and the movement of ships in the area after the early morning US strike on Iran nuclear facilities.

The ministry is keeping telephone contact with Greek shipping companies sailing near the Strait of Hormuz.

The shipping community has been notified by urgent written request, the fifth in a row, advising ships to find safe ports or docking places in nearby countries until the situation stabilizes.
