Androulakis: US attack on Iran an extremely dangerous escalation in a very sensitive region

The United States' military attack on Iran "constitutes an extremely dangerous escalation in a very sensitive region," said PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Nikos Androulakis on Sunday, expressing his deep concern "for the possibility of a generalized destabilization of the Middle East and the Gulf, which will directly affect our area as well."
Androulakis said that as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and an active member of the EU and NATO, Greece "ought to consistently support peace, respect of international law, and the peaceful resolution of differences."
The PASOK-KINAL leader also stressed that "the goverment must support initiatives that aim at deescalation, in view of the NATO and EU meetings this week." Peace through diplomacy does not signify weakness, he added, but is a strategy of responsibility before humanity. "Greece must also serve as a voice of stability and a bridge of understanding in the region," Androulakis added.
