President Tassoulas declares launch of nationwide campaign 'Together We Break the Silence. 13 Cities, One Common Front Against Domestic Violence'

President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine Tassoulas on Friday declared the launch of the nationwide campaign called "Together We Break the Silence: 13 Cities, One Common Front Against Domestic Violence," organised by the Citizen Protection Ministry in the country's 13 regional capitals, and held under the auspices of the President of the Republic.
From his hometown, Ioannina, Tassoulas emphasised that "this campaign will expand to all regions of the country, starting from Ioannina, with the implementation of corresponding events," and added that "the goal is to highlight the work carried out by the State at the regional level, the work done by the officers who spoke to us just now, to strengthen cooperation among agencies, and to raise public awareness about the necessity of collectively addressing this phenomenon."
"In the year 2025, domestic violence is not, and must not be, a closed, private matter. It is a serious social pathology that affects the integrity, dignity, and life of many of our fellow citizens, especially women, children, and the elderly," underlined the President, adding:"It knows no social classes, educational levels, or geographical boundaries. It concerns all social groups and manifests in various ways, for example-just as examples-I mention: physical, psychological, economic, and sexual violence."
He noted that for these reasons, after discussions with Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis, this campaign has been placed under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic as "with the patronage, it is ensured that this initiative, which must reach every Greek woman and man through the campaign starting here, acquires further institutional weight and significance."
In parallel, he expressed his certainty that "this campaign, which starts today, will ultimately be embraced by society as well, which is far more important and is the goal of this initiative. By changing society’s attitude towards domestic violence, in cooperation with the State, it will help decisively combat this horrific phenomenon."
