Kefalogiannis: 99.4% of Municipalities connected to e-platform for plot clean-ups

The fire season, which has already begun, was mentioned by Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Yannis Kefalogiannis in an interview with the radio station SKAI 100.3.
Kefalogiannis stressed the obligation of citizens to keep their plots clean throughout the fire season, while municipalities must indicate “ green spots” where citizens can deposit waste from the clean-up. He pointed out that in 2024 only 55% of the country's municipalities, 185 out of 332, were connected to the Ministry of Civil Protection's online platform, while this year the percentage has increased to 99.4%, allowing for better monitoring and management of declarations.
He then referred to the Fire Brigade, where this year, he said, has historically the largest number of personnel, increased by about 30% compared to 2019, with 18,000 men and women, of which 15,500 are permanent or 5-year commitment and 2,500 seasonal employees.
