57-year-old Romanian woman remanded for abusing 88-year-old in Heraklion, Crete

A 57-year-old Romanian woman was temporarily detained for allegedly abusing an 88-year-old woman in her care at the elderly woman’s home in the Municipality of Malevizi, Crete.

The 57-year-old, who was granted a deadline to prepare her defence, appeared before the Heraklion courts on Thursday. During her statement, she reportedly denied ever using violence against the elderly woman.

Family members of the 88-year-old claim that she had recently complained of aggressive behaviour by the caregiver. They also allege that the woman had been unplugging the security camera at times to prevent footage from being recorded inside the home.

The caregiver is facing charges of robbery, extortion, and causing dangerous bodily harm.
