Chatzivasileiou on the evacuation of Greeks from Iran via Azerbaijan

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Tasos Chatzivasileiou, in an interview on Thursday with SKAI TV, referred to the land operation to evacuate Greek citizens from Iran via Azerbaijan, under the guidance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "This is an extremely difficult equation, which shows that the Greek government is ready to provide solutions even in the most complex situations," the Deputy Minister emphasised.
Referring to developments in the Middle East, Chatzivasileiou stated that "escalation will benefit no one, and I fear it will only produce losers."
He clarified that Greece is considering all scenarios and is closely monitoring the situation. At the same time, he gave assurances that "the government does not believe there is a threat to targets within Greece," adding that "we do not aim to spread panic, but rather to maintain a high level of vigilance."
On Greek-Turkish relations, the minister reiterated Greece’s established position that its only dispute with Turkiye concerns the continental shelf and the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
