Mitsotakis: Justice can shed light on the Tempi case; the goal of the conspiracy theories was to harm the government

"Following the discussion in Parliament on Wednesday regarding the establishment of a Preliminary Investigation Committee, a cycle of toxicity that divided and misinformed the citizens has come to an end. The important thing is that two ministers from New Democracy are being referred to the Judicial Council. We believe that politicians should face a natural judge like all other citizens, and this underpins our rationale for revising Article 16. I remind you that we have already abolished the statute of limitations," emphasised Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an interview to Status FM radio in Thessaloniki on Thursday.
Asked about the issue, Mitsotakis stressed that "the Judicial Council has the ability to thoroughly investigate this particular case. The important thing is that the case is going where it should have gone from the start, and we hope the trial will begin soon. From the beginning, we said that only Justice can shed light on the issue. The aim of conspiracy theories was to damage the government, and I cannot avoid mentioning the political absurdity of two parties from the far right and far left joining forces to accuse the prime minister of high treason. Yesterday's development puts an end to all of this, and from now on the developments concern the Justice system."
In response to a question about the ongoing Israel-Iran war, the prime minister noted that "the Greek government's established position is that further escalation of hostilities will not solve any problem; on the contrary, we will risk a regional conflict with adverse effects on the global economy. We recognise that Iran should not acquire a nuclear arsenal, but this must be done, as all European leaders say, through diplomacy."
Mitsotakis denied that there was information about a possible strike on the Souda naval base in Crete and added that he would not comment on military meetings where various scenarios are being examined.
