Famellos: Mitsotakis' regime does everything it can to hide the truth

Opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Sokratis Famellos on Wednesday attacked the government and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in person, during the Parliamentary debate discussing the formation of a committee to conduct a preliminary investigation of the Tempi train collision.

Beginning his speech, he stated: "Two years and four months have passed, and the families of the victims continue demanding justice; Greek society demands oxygen and honest, clear answers - that it has yet to receive, for which the Mitsotakis government is responsible. Because the Mitsotakis regime does everything it can to hide the truth, and above all the government’s responsibilities for the collision and the tragic accident. And this was proven by Maximos Mansion’s plan for a cover-up."

He outlined SYRIZA’s overall position and verbally attacked the other opposition parties: "SYRIZA-PA neither included offences and individuals in its proposal for political reasons, nor removed them out of political fear or ulterior motives. We did not align with nihilistic, far‑right, and obscurantist voices that opportunistically seek to exploit the impact of this crime. All of this allows Mr. Mitsotakis to appear as if he has turned from perpetrator into victim. We publicised and boldly included in our proposal one ‘forbidden’ word: Mitsotakis. In the country where, for you, everything is done on Mitsotakis’s orders, with Tempi everything took place without Mitsotakis’s awareness. To seek the truth, whoever reviews the case file must also examine Mitsotakis’s responsibilities."
