Kontogeorgis: The Greek government follows a policy of principles and values

Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Thanassis Kontogeorgis on Tuesday referred to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran in an interview with Naftemporiki TV.

"We live in a time when crises have taken on a nature of permanence and normality. Of course, we deal with them, we move on, but every crisis leaves its mark-and this one will certainly leave a mark," he began by saying. However, he continued, "we hope that everyone will come to the negotiating table-what matters for us is a peaceful resolution of disputes. But it will certainly have economic consequences, and we still don’t know what the scale of the conflict will be. The impact will be global, and readiness is needed by all at the international level, including in our own country."

Kontogeorgis also said that "the Greek government follows a policy of principles and values, which is based on the rules of international law." And, "yes, we may have an alliance, yes, we may invest in this relationship, but we must speak the language of truth to our friends and allies"-a stance that Greece maintains in the UN Security Council, the European Council, and other fora.
