State budget shows primary surplus of 4.6 billion euros in Jan-May

The state budget showed a primary surplus of 4.6 billion euros on a cash basis between January and May 2025.

According to data from the Bank of Greece, in the same period the cash result of the central administration showed a surplus of 1.327 billion euros, compared to a deficit of 537 million euros in the corresponding period of 2024.

This development mainly reflects the increase in regular budget revenues to 27.093 billion euros, from 25.272 billion euros last year. As for regular budget expenditures, they amounted to 24.983 billion euros, from 23.676 billion euros in the period from January to May 2024.
