The Government Council for National Security (KYSEA) met on Friday afternoon under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
According to a statement by Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis, an assessment of the latest developments in the Middle East was made during the meeting.
Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis was briefed on the situation in the Middle East and on the assistance provided from the very first moment to Greek citizens in Israel and Iran.
The government, is following with concern the developments that carry the risk of serious inflammation in the region. It also calls on the parties to show restraint and not to engage in further escalation that would cause wider destabilisation.
KYSEA underlines that Greece's consistent position is that solutions must be sought through diplomacy.
Moreover, Greece will continue to work in this direction with partners and allies for the benefit of stability and security in the wider region.
