Hatzidakis: We are closely monitoring the developments in the Middle East

"The escalation in the wider region of the Middle East is very worrying and poses risks of a potentially wider flare-up. From the very beginning, the government has been closely monitoring the developments. This afternoon, there will be a meeting of the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defence (KYSEA), chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who is returning urgently from Sweden. There will also be a statement at EU level", stated Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, in an interview with SKAI on Friday, in response to a question about today’s airstrikes by Israel against Iranian targets.
At the same time, Hatzidakis spoke about the initial measures that have already been implemented for Greeks in the region, following the activation of the crisis management team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Specifically, contact points have been established for Greeks located in Israel and Iran, the diplomatic missions in other countries in the region have been informed, and communication has begun with Greeks living in those countries.
