Theodorikakos on new productive model

"Nine months ago, I presented the necessity and strategy for a new productive model to export more and better - with innovation, with extroversion, and to have a competitive economy in very challenging times. This is not an abstract vision, but a plan that is being implemented day by day. Within this framework, strategic investments worth 2 billion euros have been approved and are being carried out," stated Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos in an interview with SKAI TV on Friday.
He cited as examples the investment by Metlen in Volos for the production of advanced defence systems, the production of gallium in quantities sufficient to meet all European needs for semiconductor manufacturing, and the investment in carbon dioxide liquefaction and storage. These are investments which, as he said, are building a sustainable and resilient development model, following the major investments in tourism - a sector that absorbed 80% of the development laws in recent years.
In the same period, said the minister, the the National Council for Research, Technology and Innovation (ESETEK) was re-established, and investments exceeding 370 million euros are being implemented in research and technology institutes for the production of innovation. "All of this concerns us all, as it creates thousands of well-paid jobs for our young people. There is no greater strength and no better security than a strong, competitive economy," underlined Theodorikakos.
