Attacker of Turkish national is identified, sought by Thessaloniki police

Police identified a suspect of an attempted homicide against a Turkish national, 35, in 2022, they said on Wednesday.
The Turkish man was attacked on July 13, 2022 in the Panagia Faneromeni area in Neapoli, Thessaloniki region.
According to the victim, a fellow Turk, 49 years old, approached him while walking and after leading him to a place where an accomplice was waiting, proceeded to remove a cellphone, money, and bank cards under the threat of a gun. When he tried to resist, he was shot in the chest and while being shot at managed to escape to a nearby gas station. He was then transported to the hospital through the EKAV ambulance service.
Utilizing evidence collected at the site of the attack and by analyzing digital data, police identified the attacker and an arrest warrant was issued against him. At the same time, investigation continues for the identification and arrest of his accomplice.
According to the statement by the section fighting crimes against life and property, part of the police subdivision of dealing with organized crime in Northern Greece, when the victim's home was searched police found a gun with 4 bullets. A separate case file was drawn up on him for violation of the law on arms.
