Kaklamanis: Absolute majority in parliament remains unchanged

"The number of 151 MPs required for votes needing an absolute majority remains unchanged, with no alterations," clarified  Parliament president Nikitas Kaklamanis on Wednesday "there will be no need for an opinion from the Scientific Council unless the Electoral Court’s decision-which removed the three deputies of Spartiates from their parliamentary seats-explicitly states that with 297 MPs, the absolute majority is now 149.”

He made this clarification while briefing parliamentary correspondents on what will apply going forward in parliamentary votes, following the reduction of MPs from 300 to 297, stressing that all parties agree on this point, based on discussions he has already held.

"There will be no issue, neither with the Scientific Council nor anything else. I believe we need to get the Electoral Court’s decision in our hands and see exactly what is written in the operative part," he added.
