Dimas: We are actively participating in initiatives to promote the use of hydrogen

"The state is actively participating in initiatives for the use of hydrogen in road transport," stated Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas during his speech at the conference "Hydrogen Innovation for Regional Growth: Enhancing Mobility and Local Value Chains - The Peloponnese Case", held on Wednesday in Aghii Theodori, Corinth region.
Dimas highlighted the importance of the TRIĒRĒS project, which focuses on scaling up hydrogen ecosystems across Europe. He also outlined the benefits that the operation of the TRIĒRĒS Valley in Aghii Theodori will bring for maritime transport, industry, and road transport.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport emphasized that hydrogen is a technology that is being pursued for integration into urban transport, noting that funding has been secured for a hydrogen-powered bus by OSY (Road Transport), which will be included in the corresponding pilot program.
Additionally, Dimas stated that an investment proposal by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for the procurement of 50 hydrogen buses has been approved by the Modernisation Fund," and the tender announcement is currently being scheduled. He also noted that approval has been granted under CEF 2 for the construction of a hydrogen refueling station at OSY’s facilities in Ano Liosia.
"Greece has some of the best wind and solar fields in the world, which make it capable of producing large quantities of hydrogen through renewable energy sources," Dimas added, assuring that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is contributing-and will continue to contribute-to this effort by leveraging available programs.
