Mitsotakis met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính on the sidelines of the Τhird United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice.
The Vietnamese prime minister extended an invitation to Kyriakos Mitsotakis to visit his country, which was accepted.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mitsotakis thanked his Vietnamese counterpart for the invitation, and estimated that "I do not need to make a great effort to convince my colleagues that this is a visit worth making."
He also said that the timing of the visit is equally interesting "as we celebrate 50 years of our diplomatic relations. I would therefore like to visit Vietnam before the end of the year, because I see many opportunities to further strengthen our bilateral relations".
The Greek prime minister noted that the two countries have common interests, and referred to the two countries' commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
"Greece is a maritime nation. We control 25% of the world's merchant fleet, so we have a great interest in ensuring freedom of navigation and safety of navigation. I had the opportunity to raise this issue at the Security Council level, where Greece is a non-permanent member for the period 2025-2026," Mitsotakis noted.
On his part, Phạm Minh Chính, in addition to the invitation he extended to the Greek Prime Minister, conveyed the "cordial greetings" of the Vietnamese leadership and emphasized:
"I look forward to welcoming you during your visit to Vietnam in order to strengthen trust between our countries and discuss issues of mutual interest."
