Dendias in France for the launching of the FDI HN frigate HS 'Formion'

National Defence Minister Nikos Dendias is due in France on Wednesday, accompanied by the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Houpis, and the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios Eleftherios Kataras, for the launching ceremony of the FDI HN frigate, HS "Formion."
HS "Formion" is the third FDI HN frigate - known as Belharra - being built by Naval Group for the Hellenic Navy.

Pre-outfitted hull blocks of the HS "Formion" were built at the Salamis shipyards and traveled on February 5 to the Naval Group shipyard in Lorient, France.

There, they were assembled for the next steps in the construction of the frigate.

Within the framework of the FDI HN frigate programme, Naval Group is consistently collaborating with the Greek defence industry, as underlined in the Group's announcements, .
In this direction, Greek companies are integrated into Naval Group's supply chain and have the opportunity to participate in other programmes and future international tenders.
FDI HS frigate is a 4,500-ton class high sea warship. Multipurpose and resilient, she features high level capabilities in all naval combat domains: anti-ship, anti-air, antisubmarine and special forces projection, with unique capabilities against asymmetric threats. She benefits from Thales’ latest innovations in radar, sonar and electronic warfare.
