Min Livanios to inaugurate launch of Greece-North Macedonia cross-border project on Thursday

The start of the implementation of the Interreg project BorPres2, a cross-border project between Greece and North Macedonia, will be inaugurated at 12:00 on Thursday at the Prespes Town Hall in Lemos by Interior Minister Thodoris Livanios.
The project will establish a new border crossing between Greece's town of Lemos in the Florina prefecture and North Macedonia's Markova Noga and comes under the Interreg IPA Cross Border Cooperation Program 'Greece-North Macedonia 2021-20-27'.
According to Interreg, which is co-funded by the EU, BorPres2 is an Operation of Strategic Importance with a total budget of 7.5 million euros and a timeline of 36 months. It includes the construction of a customs and police station in Greece, the upgrade of facilities and equipment of the existing police station in North Macedonia, and the creation and promotion of a cross-border walking path that will link Aghios Germanos (Prespes Municipality) with Brajchino (Resen Municipality).
The project aims to enhance cross-border connectivity and stimulate economic development in the region. It is implemented jointly by the Region of Western Macedonia (leading partner), North Macedonia's Interior Ministry, Greece's Interior Ministry (Macedonia-Thrace section), and the municipalities of Prespes and Resen.
Besides Livanios, expected to attend the inauguration on Thursday (June 5) are Greek Deputy Interior Minister for Macedonia-Thrace Kostas Gkioulekas, North Macedonia's Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski, North Macedonia's Minister of Local Government Zlatko Perinski, and the European Union's Ambassador to North Macedonia Michalis Rokas.
