GNTO's actions for the promotion of Greece in the Italian market

A total of 45 representatives of Italian tourist agencies have travelled to Lefkada and Corfu in the context of two fam trips organised by the Greek National Tourism Organisation in Italy, in cooperation with the shipping company ANEK Lines and the region of the Ionian Islands.
During their stay on the two islands, the Italian agents had the opportunity-thanks to the assistance of Antonella Papanikola, a representative of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) in Italy-to visit selected points of interest, experience the natural beauty and genuine hospitality of the local residents firsthand, and sample representative dishes from the local cuisine.
The two fam trips yielded immediate results, as, according to data from ANEK Lines, a significant increase in bookings from Italian travellers to these specific Greek destinations was observed immediately after the trips concluded.
At the same time, on May 22, the GNTO office in Italy co-organised a promotional event for Greece with the ferry company Superfast Ferries, aimed at representatives of travel agencies from Bari and the surrounding region.
During the event, which took place on one of the company’s vessels operating the Bari-Igoumenitsa route, the head of the specific department of GNTO office, Kyriaki Boulasidou, presented lesser-known Greek destinations in the Italian market and the authentic experiences each visitor can enjoy there. She also placed particular emphasis on the importance of sustainability in tourism-a trend that is steadily gaining ground in Italy as well.
On her part, Chiara Morandi, the representative of Superfast Ferries in Italy, provided a detailed overview of the company’s routes, pricing policy, and special offers, as well as alternative Greek destinations promoted through the tour operator Webtours.
The event concluded with a working lunch, during which Boulasidou had the opportunity to discuss developments in the tourism market, booking trends, and the prospects for the current season with the attendees.
