Mitsotakis to meet rectors of Greek universities

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will meet with the rectors of the country's universities at 12:30, at the Maximos Mansion.
Over 470 arrests have been carried out and dozens of occupied university buildings ended in the last six years, in the framework of police operations to restore legality in state universities, according to information provided.
Since 2019, a total of 26 'hold-outs' or 'self-managed' areas in universities have been cleared in Attica Region alone. A total of 10 spaces were turned over to rectors in 2024 alone. In Thessaloniki, a total of 11 occupations have ended, including the so-called "Biology Dept Hangout" which was occupied for over three decades, and which is now housing the unified library of Aristotle University of Thesaloniki's School of Science.
