Deputy PM: Gov't supports entrepreneurship, which leads to better jobs and the economy's growth

The government clearly supports entrepreneurship, because it is a prerequisite of new and better job openings, Deputy Premier Kostis Hatzidakis told the annual general meeting of the Association of Businesses and Industries in the Peloponnese and Western Greece in Patras, through a televised message.
"As happens with governments of all countries that have moved forward, the Greek government decided from the very start to clearly support entrepreneurship, because it is a prerequisite for new and better job openings and a prerequisite for the growth of the Greek economy," he said.
Among the examples he cited toward this was the reduction of taxes for legal entities from 28% to 22%, the reduction in dividend taxation, and the reduction of social security contributions. In addition, he said the licensing process had been simplified, and a new labor legislation was introduced.
"The effort doesn't end here, but we are continuing because we are facing challenges such as the adoption of the new special urban planning framework for industry and the modernization of the framework for industrial areas," Hatzidakis said, adding that "our doors are always open to you, as you are people of private initiative and what you are doing is a basic mover for local economy growth, and for that of the national economy collectively."
