Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Pope Leo to meet in Nicaea in November for 1,700th anniversary of First Ecumenical Council

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met on Friday at the Vatican with Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Pope Francis' encyclical "Laudato Si'", dedicated to the protection of the environment.

According to analysts, the late pontiff drew significant inspiration for this encyclical from Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew's work and his particular sensitivity towards the protection and respect of the planet.

According to reports, during their meeting they agreed to meet in İznik (Nicaea) at the end of November to mark the 1,700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea.

The Pope is expected to visit Ankara, Istanbul, and the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Fener during the feast day of Saint Andrew the Apostle. Additionally, he is scheduled to visit Selçuk (Ephesus) during this trip.
