Androulakis to gov't: 'You are the architects of corruption and lack of meritocracy in the last 6 yrs'

The government of New Democracy (ND) is "absolutely responsible" for the "corruption and lack of meritocracy in the last six years", said PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Nikos Androulakis in Parliament on Thursday.

Androulakis said, "No Constitution is at fault either for the corruption, or the lack of meritocracy, or the clientelistic state of New Democracy," he said. "You are absolutely responsible. You are the architects of corruption and of lack of meritocracy in the last six years."

The PASOK-KINAL leader criticized the ND government for its proposal for a preliminary investigation committee on former transportation minister Kostas Ach. Karamanlis over the Tempi train collision. The government means to "lead him to acquittal, not even a misdemeanor for breach of security of transportation," Androulakis said.

The party leader also criticized the government for "changingn six governors in six years in OPEKEPE," the agency handling EU funds for agriculture in Greece that is being dismantled.
In addition, he also charged the government with a lack of briefing about Turkiye's obstruction of the electricity power cable connection between Greece and Cyprus.

Another issue he raised was the construction and concession of VOAK, the northern highway on the island of Crete under construction, and said the government should explain the placement of toll stations and the project's timetable. There is no strategic planning for Greek infrastructure, he asserted, adding, "There is no transparency or accountability, contracts are directly handed out, there is no review of any contract." A rule of law, transparency, and social responsibility is our duty before the Greek people, Androulakis said.
