Development law passed in parliament

More than one billion euros will be handed out to businesses of all kinds over the next two years, under the new development law passed by Parliament on Wednesday, Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos told MPs after the conclusion of the debate.
“ The development law ensures, with transparency, credibility, seriousness, and through the cooperation of the development ministry with private-sector entities, the distribution of resources. Over the next two years, the decisions for inclusion [in financing schemes] will exceed 1 billion euros, with the implementation of at least five development schemes included in the new development law, all of which concern the entirety of Greek entrepreneurship-obviously large enterprises, since strengthening their competitiveness is also crucial in the context of intense international competition, but also small and medium-sized enterprises-as has been the case with a series of financial tools provided by the Greek State in recent years,” he said.
"For us, the goal of development concerns the entire country; it involves the necessary reduction of social and regional inequalities, the strengthening of entrepreneurship, the support of the younger generation, allowing young people to stay in peripheral regions, and addressing the country's acute demographic problem," said Theodorikakos. He also noted that the ministry will examine the creative ideas proposed during the discussion of the new development law, because the aim is to achieve the target of continuing growth and the productive transformation of the Greek economy, for the benefit of Greek society.
