Pierrakakis: Digitisation must be combined with simplifying the rest of bureaucracy

"After achieving fiscal stability, we are on the way to conquer the change of productive model and we are optimistic that exports will account for 60% of GDP," National Economy and Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis said on Wednesday at the conference "80 Years of the Panhellenic Exporters Association: Defining the future of Greek exports: innovation, challenges and opportunities".
The minister stressed the need to combine digitisation with the simplification of procedures, such as licensing and real estate transfers. Much has been done in digitisation but the rest of the bureaucracy must also be simplified, he noted, adding that reforms are needed that have no cost but need determination.
He also called for proposals from the exporters, and said that in addition to the financial tools, there is also an emphasis on the incentives for business mergers and cluster export businesses.
"The export footprint is also a national footprint," he said, noting that the government perceives the great need to change the production model "and we are willing to do whatever we need to achieve this."
