Police confiscate 49 firebombs in basement of University of Thessaloniki

A total of 49 firebombs were discovered in a basement of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (UoTh) by a staff member.

Police called in noted that some of these included improvised pyrotechnic constructions and butane gas canisters, according to a Hellenic Police statement. 

Besides the 49 firebombs, police also confiscated 2 empty plastic jerry cans that strongly smelled of fuel, another one with flammable material, four plastic bottles with a 'car gas' label, several pieces of rags, and other material.

The criminal and bomb units of the Northern Greek police force is investigating.
