Greece is currently making the largest investment in culture there has ever been, Culture Minister Lina Mendoni said on Tuesday, speaking to the radio station "Parapolitika FM".
"At this time, at the culture ministry, the largest programme of infrastructure works ever carried out is underway. We have about 850 projects throughout Greece that are gradually being completed, and new ones are now being added. At this moment we are at 1.2 billion [euros]. It is the first time that there has been such an investment in culture," she said.
The minister noted that this concerned specific projects with specific schedules and budgets. "The day before yesterday, on Sunday, I conducted a review on the occasion of International Day of Museums. In these six years, from 2019 until today, 26 entirely new or fully renovated museums have been delivered in Greece. And by 2028, we have the delivery of an additional 28," she said.
