Panos Valavanis, one of the most important Greek archaeologists, Professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Athens, with a wealth of writing, research and excavation work, has passed away at the age of 71. In the olive grove of Itea, Valavanis found traces of the oldest surviving hippodrome in Greece.
