PM Mitsotakis visits new EKAV air ambulance donated by SNF

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on his return from Rome, saw at the Elefsina Air Base the new state-of-the-art plane that joined the fleet of the Hellenic Social Welfare Assistance Unit (EKAV) for air ambulance services.
Mitsotakis was briefed on the capabilities of the Beechcraft King Air 360C, which was donated by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and earlier on Monday delivered. The new plane is capable of long-haul flights and can be used for both patient repatriation and missions related to organ transplantation.
The new aeroplane joins the four aircraft-two helicopters and two aeroplanes-that were delivered in 2021 through a previous grant from SNF, further enhancing EKAV’s operational capacity to provide safe transport from islands and remote areas of the country to central locations so patients can receive the urgent care they need. SNF’s overall support for the five air ambulances-two fully outfitted Augusta Westland 109 Trekker helicopters, two Beechcraft King Air 350C aeroplanes, and one Beechcraft King Air 360C aeroplane-totals 41.6 million dollars.
