Greek and Italian Agriculture Ministers discuss CAP, PDO, PGI protection in Rome

The Minister of Rural Development and Food Κostas Tsiaras met on Monday in Rome with the Italian Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignt Francesco Lollobrigida.
They discussed the future of the Common Agricultural Policy and the protection of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) products, especially in the light of the trade agreements beetween the EU with third countries.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, the two ministers also discussed the promotion of the Mediterranean diet as a model of sustainable and healthy food choice. They also talked about safeguarding fisheries and protecting fishermen from environmental and economic pressures.
During their meeting was signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Benaki Phytopathological Institute and the Italian organisation CREA.
