Development Min Theodorikakos meets with Egyptian counterparts on trade and industry investments

The Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos met on Wednesday with the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Egypt Hassan El Khatib and the Minister of Planning, Economic Development & International Cooperation Rania A. Al-Mashat, on the sidelines of the First Greece-Egypt Strategic Council. 

"We are strengthening the strategic cooperation between Greece and Egypt in investment and overall in the economic sector," he said. 
According to a statement by the ministry, Deputy Foreign Minister Tasos Hatzivassiliou, responsible for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion, also participated in the meeting.

The discussions focused on the GREGY project, the Greece-Egypt electricity interconnection cable, which was described as a strategic investment of critical importance for Europe's energy security and green transition. 

They also discussed specific measures to enhace cooperation in trade, industry, as well as innovation and start-ups, aiming to boost mutual investments and leverage the strategic role of both countries in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
Finally, specific initiatives were explored to encourage Egyptian investments in Greece and Greek investments in Egypt.
