PM Mitsotakis: Our weapons in the battle against the housing crisis

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in an article published in the online magazine of the Youth Organisation of the New Democracy (ONNED) entitled “ Our weapons in the battle against the housing crisis”, underlines that he is aware of the challenges faced by many of citizens in their attempt to acquire their own housing.

“ Rising rents, limited supply and unstable market conditions, both in our country and internationally, make securing affordable housing perhaps the biggest obstacle facing the younger generation today,” he says.
He also notes that many young people even as 35 years old remain in their parents' homes not by choice but by necessity.  “ The New Democracy government recognises that housing is a fundamental right that must be accessible to all,” Mitsotakis said, referring to the reimbursement of a rent that affects some 1.3 million citizens.

In his article Mitsotakis talks about the incentives offered by the “ My House” (To spiti mou) program to offer low-interest loans to low-income citizens to buy their homes and the successive renovation programs offered.

"In total, we are developing 40 actions with a total budget of more than 6.5 billion euros and we are determined to continue in the same direction. Because we know that housing is not just about square metres. It is about dignity, stability and certainty. It is the foundation on which you will build the rest of your life: your career, your family, your future. A future that we build together, with optimism and confidence," Kyriakos Mitsotakis concludes in his article.
