Rescue operation underway for German climber on Mount Olympus

A German climber was found shortly after 3:30 pm by climbers in a gorge on Mount Olympus, near the ‘Spilios Agapitos’ shelter, at an altitude of 2,100 metres. He had been part of a group when, for unknown reasons, he lost his balance and fell onto a cliff.

Twelve firefighters from the 2nd and 8th Special Disaster Response Units, along with personnel from the Litochoro Fire Department, participated in the rescue operation. A fire service helicopter is already approaching the area to airlift the injured man, who is reported to have sustained craniocerebral injuries.
