Papastergiou: Kids Wallet is not a means of surveillance with penalties, but a tool that enhances the role of parents

The Kids Wallet is a straightforward digital parental control tool in order for parents to be able to monitor, but not spy, their children's mobile phone usage and also serves as a means of identifying the child using it, said Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou at a press conference on Monday on the National Strategy for the Prevention of Violence and the Management of Juvenile Delinquency for the period 2025-2030. This strategy aims to address the growing challenges faced by young people in both the digital and physical worlds, with particular focus on prevention and protection.
Papastergiou stressed the crucial role of technology in shaping modern society and the challenges it poses for the safety and well-being of minors. "It is not enough to recognise the opportunities offered by technology. We must be equally prepared to face the lurking threats, especially for our children," he said.
The strategy includes a series of targeted actions and initiatives, focusing on strengthening young people's digital literacy, promoting safe internet use and developing parental control tools. One of the central elements of the strategy is the Kids Wallet, an innovative application aimed at protecting minors online.
