Nearly half of annual tax statements for 2024 filed within first 43 days, AADE says

Nearly 46.5% of Greek income tax statements for tax year 2024 have been filed within 43 days of the total 119 days of the filing season, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) said, a record filing rate.

Tax submission season began on March 17 and will end on July 15, with some exceptions.

According to AADE, 7 in 10 taxpayers will not pay additional taxes.

Data as of April 30 show that 3,160,201 filings were submitted. Of these, 29.95% owe taxes (average amount: 1,826 euros), another 25.02% received refunds (average amount: 298 euros), while 45.03% came out even.

Commenting on the filings so early, National Economy & Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis attributed the record rate to the successful digital transformation of the tax administration - which also provided refunds quickly: over half of those owed refunds have already received them, AADE said.
