Greek Foreign Ministry sources respond to statements by Turkish leader

Every action to create a fait accompli in the occupied territories "constitutes an extremely negative development", Greek diplomatic sources said on Sunday, referring to the visit and statements of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the occupied territories of Cyprus.
"At a time when a significant effort by the United Nations Secretary General is expended on the Cyprus issue, through the restart of informal talks and the appointment of Ms Maria Angela Holguin Cuéllar as personal envoy, every action to create a fait accompli in the occupied territories constitutes an extremely negative development," the diplomatic sources said specifically.
They also clarified that "the consistent goal is Cyprus' reunification under the agreed-upon United Nations framework, for the benefit of all Cypriots as well as of international peace and security."
