Georgiadis: A Health Minister must always support the national system

"There is no Minister of Health who does not support the public system, he must be crazy not to support it. I, who am the most fanatical devotee of the private sector, with Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan as role models, tell you that if a Minister of Health does not support the public system, he is crazy," Health Minister, Adonis Georgiadis, said on Saturday in an interview with Efimerida ton Syntakton.
He noted that his goal is to remain Minister of Health until the elections in 2027 and spoke about the interventions that have been made and others that are underway to improve health services.
His personal bet from the position of Minister of Health is "fewer vacancies for doctors in the remote islands and regions in the summers compared to last year and the year before."
"The biggest challenge is that, as we proceed with the renovation of the building infrastructure of the National Health System and at the same time the tenders for technological equipment, there will be a visible improvement in the shortage of medical and nursing staff. If we cover these, if we close the circle with the staff shortage, we will truly have a much better National Health System," Georgiadis added.
