Famellos: Workers are still demanding their labour rights

"Labour Day is a day of remembrance and struggle. We honor the victims of the workers' struggle so that workers can have labour rights today, but at the same time we also demand today the strengthening of the rights of workers and the entire world of work," the leader of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, Sokratis Famellos, stressed in his message.

"Because especially in Greece of unpaid days off, overtime, flexible hours, low wages, many work accidents and the lack of collective agreements, labour rights are relevant," he noted and added:

"They concern us all and that is why we are here today. Because workers are still demanding their rights at work. Things are not going well either in terms of their wages or their rights, or even in terms of the cost of living. There is no life with dignity today in Mr. Mitsotakis' Greece. And at the same time, the union rights of workers are being violated."

"So we are demanding rights to work and life, in a Greece that we claim to be free, to be democratic. This means Labour Day, it means freedom, Democracy for both workers and all citizens. And SYRIZA is here to participate in the process and in the struggle and on the path of political change. Because all of this must change in Greece. This situation cannot go on any longer," Famellos concluded.
