Infrastructure & Transport minister, deputy minister visit schools being restored in western Thessaly
Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Dimas paid a visit on Tuesday to schools in western Thessaly destroyed by storms that are being entirely and exclusively refurbished by the Union of Greek Shipowners.
Dimas was in Thessaly for the signing of concessions to repair railroad and road damage due to the 'Daniel' and 'Elias' storms in September 2023. He was accompanied in the school visits by Deputy Nikos Tachiaos.
Speaking in Farkadona, near Trikala, he thanked the Union for funding restoration of 33 schools and said, "All of us together can achieve important things. We have 33 schools in Thessaly and Central Greece that are substantially upgraded. Those schools serve as pilot schools because hundreds of schools in Greece will be upgraded through the Marietta Giannakou program," referring to the late politician who had served as Education minister. He noted that repairs and upgrades in 14 schools had already been concluded, while the rest were in a final stage.
The minister also visited other schools in the Trikala regional unit of Thessaly, as well as in Karditsa.
