BoG: Deposits fall in March

The decline in deposits continued in March. According to Bank of Greece data, , deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions decreased by 158 million in March 2025, compared with a decrease of € 96 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 2.6% from 3.0%, in the previous month.
In March 2025, corporate deposits increased by 2,563 million, compared with a decrease of 1,306 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 11.9% from 9.4% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs increased by 2,436 million, against a decrease of 1,259 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased by 127 million, compared with a decrease of 46 million in the previous month.
Deposits placed by the private sector increased by 2,405 million in March 2025, compared with a decrease of 1,701 million in the previous month.
In March 2025, deposits placed by the general government decreased by 1,046 million, compared with an increase of 928 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 12.1% from 15.3% in the previous month.
