Meeting at Energy Ministry on blackout in the Iberian Peninsula

A meeting on the blackout in the Iberian Peninsula was held on Monday evening at the Ministry of Environment and Energy under Minister Stavros Papastavrou with the participation of representatives of electricity market operators.
It was reportedly pointed out that the problem did not affect the European market broadly, as the electricity systems of Spain and Portugal were isolated by manipulations made immediately by the operators.
The same sources clarified that the incident in the Iberian Peninsula is unrelated to the measures Greece has implemented to manage the oversupply of electricity from renewable sources, which is currently being observed alongside reduced demand due to favorable weather conditions.
In Greece, the instability caused by the combination of high production and low demand had been anticipated and is being addressed through reductions in renewable energy production.
