Deputy FM Loverdos and delegation bringing Holy Light to Greece

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Yiannis Loverdos is in Jerusalem as of Holy Saturday (April 19) to attend the ceremony of the lighting of the Holy Light at the Church of the Resurrection.

The minister will receive the Holy Light from Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, with whom he will also meet. 

According to the Foreign Ministry, the Holy Light is expected to arrive at the Athens International Airport 'Eleftherios Venizelos' around 19:00 on Saturday, from where it will be flown by several airline companies to cities throughout Greece.

Loverdos is heading a delegation carrying the Holy Light from Jerusalem to Athens. It includes among others New Democracy Deputy Maximos Charakopoulos as representative of the Greek Parliament and of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, Metropolitan David of Grevena, and Exarch of the Holy Sepulcher, Archimandrite Hieronymus.
