Tsoukalas: We are not the ones bringing up the issue of a cover-up regarding Tempi

Main opposition PASOK-Movement for Change spokesperson Kostas Tsoukalas on Tuesday commented on the recently submitted videos purporting to show the freight train involved in the fatal Tempi train collision, saying: "Any evidence that exists and is real obviously helps in the investigation of the responsibilities. We have said from the beginning that we are neither experts nor analysts to say whether it is genuine or not. Everyone is somewhat disconcerted, I think, that there was a delay of two years. This does not mean that someone can, with certainty, question the authenticity of the videos. Justice will consider the evidence and that is why an urgent investigation has been ordered."
"The real questions are very specific. Why did the government, which now says it will accept the preliminary investigation for Mr. Triantopoulos,  not ask for this itself first? Why did it not accept our proposal for a preliminary investigation into the responsibilities of Costas Karamanlis?" the spokesperson added.
"The communication with which the prosecutor's order came to the Greek Parliament makes an explicit reference to article 153 par. 2 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament. At this very point, it says that former parliament president Constantinos Tassoulas had to announce the second case file as well. He did not announce it and we are waiting for the government to tell us why," he concluded.
