Greek exports in 2024 reached 49.90 bln euros, Exporters Association says

Greek exports rose 7.8% in December 2024, compared to the same month in 2023, reaching 4.03 billion euros against 3.74 billion euros in December 2023, the Panhellenic Exporters' Association and its Center of Export Research and Studies said on Friday.
Based on preliminary data by the Hellenic Statistical Service, the Exporters' Association and Center said that, excluding petroleum products, exports showed a 16.2% growth for a sixth consecutive month, reaching 3.01 billion euros from 2.59 billion euros (a rise of 418.4 million euros).
On a year-to-year basis (Jan.-Dec.), exports only fell marginally by -2.2% and reached 49.90 billion euros against 51.02 billion euros in Jan.-Dec. 2023 (a drop of 1.12 billion euros).
Excluding petroleum products, exports for Jan.-Dec. 2024 rose to total 36.09 billion euros (2.3%) over 35.27 billion euros in the same period of 2023.
Exports to EU countries fell (-5.9%) and to third countries rose slightly (2.7%) in Jan.-Dec. 2024 over 2023, including petroleum products. Excluding petroleum products, exports remained to EU countries remained stagnant (-0.1%) and expanded to third countries (7.1%).
In December 2024, exports showed a rising trend in 8 of 10 main categories, compared to December 2023: Foods (11.1%), Industry products (10.4%), Chemicals (14.8%), Machinery (4.7%), Various Industrials (29.9%), Raw Materials (30.6%), Oils (70.5%) and low-value exports in Confidential Products (59.2%).
In Jan.-December 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, 5 of 10 categories showed a drop in exports: Petroleum Products-Fuel (-9.5%), Industrials (-0.6%), Machinery (-2.6%), Oils (-23.9%), and the low-value exports of Confidential Products (-2.0%). Rising in the 12-month period were Foods (8.9%), Chemicals (2.6%), Various Industrials (0.5%), Raw Materials (7.7%) and Beverages & Tobacco (8.6%), compared to the 12 months in 2023.
