Severe weather 'Bora' causes problems across Greece

The severe weather system 'Bora' has been affecting many parts of Greece since Saturday morning. According to the Fire Brigade, 1,076 calls were received at its operations center between 11 am on Saturday and 5:30 am on Sunday. These calls primarily concerned evacuations, tree removals, and water pumping.

The majority of calls were reported in Central Macedonia (350 calls), the island of Lemnos (80 calls), the island of Chios (28 calls) and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (18 calls). The updated emergency weather bulletin issued by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service warns that the severe conditions are expected to continue until Monday.

The Fire Brigade has urged citizens to exercise caution and to follow the instructions of authorities during extreme weather events.
